Kolb-to-Cardinals chatter intensifies

The Kevin Kolb-to-Arizona movement is gaining momentum.

It was reported earlier this week that the Cardinals will offer the Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie straight up to get the young quarterback who the Eagles need to move in order to get value for him.

Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News believes the trade will happen. It’s simply a matter of time.

More and more, I think Kolb for Rodgers-Cromartie, essentially, is going to be the trade that gets done,” Bowen wrote.

The Cardinals are in a hard spot and need to take action to add a quarterback. The Eagles don’t have to trade Kolb, but they risk losing him and getting nothing in return. With Philadelphia set to make Michael Vick the quarterback of the future, the Eagles need to take action too.

The question is do the Eagles do the deal for Rodgers-Cromartie straight up? If Philadlphia insists on the Cardinals adding a draft pick to the mix, that could complicate the deal in a hurry. Still, the buzz is the Cardinals are going to be in pursuit of Kolb. This is just one of dozens and dozens of interesting storylines that will unfold once the NFL finally opens its doors for business.
