Larry Fitzgerald should be ready for opener
If you were blinded by the softball-sized diamond earrings Larry Fitzgerald was sporting Monday night on the sidelines during the Arizona-Tennessee game, maybe you missed the news.
Fitzgerald, sidelined for the remainder of preseason with a knee sprain, should be ready for the season opener. He jogged some pass routes before the game, according to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, and coach Ken Whisenhunt said he expects Fitzgerald should be ready for the opener, and could be available for the final preseason game. Why on earth the Cardinals would want to play him in that game is beyond our scope of reasoning.
"I don't think there's any question in any of our minds now that he'll be ready for the first game,” Whisenhunt said. “I think he'll be ready for the last preseason game, but obviously that's not something we're pushing to do. We'll see where he is next week.”
One good question is whether or not Matt Leinart will still be the team’s quarterback when Fitzgerald returns. But that’s a post for later today.
