Laurent Robinson would like to return to Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have a pair of top wide receivers in Miles Austin and Dez Bryant and Laurent Robinson wants back in the mix.
The journeyman, who signed a one-year contract in Week 2, would like to return after enjoying a breakout season. He led the Cowboys with 54 receptions for 858 yards and 11 touchdowns as Austin was hampered by hamstring injuries for much of the season.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Robinson said he’s not worried how the depth chart stacks up during a visit with KESN-FM.
“I think I fit in good here, you know, getting along good with the guys,” Robinson said. “This is where I want to be. It doesn’t matter if I’m the No. 1, 2 or 3. I feel like I have a good fit here.”
Robinson has been cut loose by the San Diego Chargers at the end of the preseason, and he’s bounced around during his career while dealing with some injuries. But he’s proven to be a playmaker and there certainly will be interest in him.
According to Robinson, the Cowboys have expressed an interest in bringing him back.
“They just said they were proud of what I did for the team and hopefully they can bring me back,” Robinson said. “I’m just waiting for free agency to start. They can’t negotiate with my agent yet. I’m just waiting around to see what happens.
“Money doesn’t drive me to play this game. I play because I like to have fun. I think I have a good fit here with the Cowboys.”
