Lawrence Phillips suspected of murdering cellmate in California prison

Former NFL running back Lawrence Phillips is a suspect in a murder investigation, accused of killing his cellmate at a California prison. Phillips allegedly murdered Damion Soward. Phillips, 39, was sentenced to 31 years at Kern Valley State Prison in 2008 for beating his girlfriend, false imprisonment and car theft. The former Nebraska star has a long history of domestic violence. He played in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers.
