Lawrence Tynes has had a rough offseason

It hasn’t been the easiest of offseason for Lawrence Tynes.

The New York Giants kicker had three surgeries this offseason, news he revealed this morning when he showed up at the team’s facility for treatment.

Tynes told Ohn Youngmisuk of ESPN New York that he had hernia surgery at the conclusion of the season. Afterward, he had procedures on his left ankle and right heel.

“No surgery is minor but they were all pretty relatively small-type deal,” Tynes said. “I am not hurting half as much as all these other guys but I felt like I had to get it taken care of to be pain-free.”

The lockout forced Tynes to do his rehabilitation work on his own, and that’s a challenge for all players in the league in situations similar to his.

“The one thing you really miss out on is the expertise in the training room,” he said. “I am far enough along that I feel good, I am still rehabbing. You just miss coming here, the accessibility of the field, to kick, and I had a great lunch. I definitely missed it.”

Tynes made 19 of 23 field goals last season for the Giants and is 46 of 55 over the last two seasons.
