Les Snead says pros, cons to dealing No. 2 pick early

Multiple teams have called the St. Louis Rams about the second overall pick in the draft and the drama is on.

Whether or not it lasts two months up until the draft begins, who knows? The Rams could find that in the leverage game the time to sell is in advance of the draft as teams jockey for the opportunity to draft Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III.

We've been approached by multiple teams, and some of them are obvious and some of them are not so obvious,” Rams general manager Les Snead said on ESPN radio, according to the Associated Press. “Until you sit down and analyze their situation and understand where they're coming from."

Everyone expects the Indianapolis Colts to select Andrew Luck with the first pick and that would leave Griffin available for the second pick. Washington and Cleveland have been most rumored to be in pursuit of the pick. The Miami Dolphins have also been mentioned as a possibility.

If the Rams can get multiple teams involved in the bidding – or create the illusion – the price could skyrocket. If it’s just one team, the Rams might not be able to extract the bounty they are looking for in this case.

"I think there's pro and cons on making the move early or later," Snead said.

Stay tuned.
