Lions clean house in secondary in cuts to 53
The Detroit Lions have one defensive back on their roster from the 2009 season, promising safety Louis Delmas.
That nice tidbit comes from Detroit Free Press writer Dave Birkett, and let’s face it, sometimes change is needed. In the case of the Lions, it sure is. Whether or not they’ll be very improved this season, especially in the back half of their defense, remains to be seen.
Among the cuts for the Lions was veteran cornerback Dre Bly. Cornerback Eric King and safety Ko Simpson, prominent figures in the past, were also cast aside.
The teams also released: DT Rob Callaway, LB Caleb Campbell, LB Vinny Ciurciu, WR Brian Clark, DT Landon Cohen, RB DeDe Dorsey, G Noah Franklin, C Dan Gerberry, K Steven Hauschka, CB Jonathan Hefney, T Jon Jansen, T Cliff Louis, WR Michael Moore, CB Paul Pratt, CB T.J. Rushing, WR Tim Toone and CB Dante Wesley. DE Korey Bosworth was waived/injured with a broken leg.
