Lions cut Alex Henery
Alex Henery had one job to do in Detroit — make field goals.
He missed all three opportunities he was given on Sunday during Detroit's 17-14 loss to Buffalo. As a result, the Lions have released Henery from the roster. Henery, who replaced Nate Freese after early-season struggles, appeared in two games, going 1-for-4 in the process.
Detroit will now look to sign a third kicker for the season already as it enters the sixth week of the NFL season.
Henery's misses on Sunday were from 44, 47 and 50 yards out. Those aren't necessarily easy kicks, but going 0-for-3 in the NFL from that range won't do an unproven player any favors in the locker room.
The Lions will now look to find a replacement that can help out the offense, especially if Calvin Johnson's ankle injury persists and the team is unable to score as many points as it could when completely healthy.
