Lions cut Devin Thomas

The Detroit Lions have released veteran wide receiver Devin Thomas.

Thomas signed with the Lions in January.

He was cut one day after being activated from the physically unable to perform list.

Thomas is a 2008 second-round draft pick from Michigan State selected by the Washington Redskins.

The Redskins cut him in 2010 after he caught just 40 passes in two seasons.

He has also played for the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants.

The Lions cut linebacker Alex Elkins and signed cornerback Brandon King.
