Lions fine Raiola $15,000 for obscene outburst

The Detroit Lions have fined veteran center Dominic Raiola $15,000 for his potty-mouthed exchange with a fan as he ran off the field last Sunday in Miami.

The Lions doubled the fine Raiola received in 2008 when he saluted fans at Ford Field with the wrong finger during the midst of the team’s record 0-16 season. He was fined $7,500 at that time.

“It’s like when you’re a kid, and you do something wrong, and you get beat up for it, your dad beats you up,” Raiola said. “I got beat up. I got fined. Usually, you move on to the next day.

“I’m just emotional. Interaction with the crowd, it’s a part of every Sunday.”

An expensive part of every Sunday for Raiola.
