Lions get Leshoure, Best on the field for OTA

The Detroit Lions have two young running backs that missed all and most of last season on the field this morning for the club’s OTA session.

Mikel Leshoure, the second-round draft pick last year that missed the entire season with a torn Achilles tendon, is taking part. So is Jahvid Best, the young running back who missed more than half of the season following multiple concussions. Of course, there is no contact permitted in these OTA’s, so the real test for Best will be training camp and then live game action.

Leshoure had his helmet and pads on and shouted, “I’m back!” to teammates as he took the field, according to Tim Twentyman, who writes for the team’s Web site. Back for how long is one question. Leshoure had multiple arrests on marijuana charges this offseason and could face potential discipline from the NFL.
