Long rehabilitation ahead for Derek Sherrod

Green Bay Packers rookie offensive lineman Derek Sherrod faces a grueling rehabilitation after he was lost for the season in Sunday’s game at Kansas City when he suffered a fractured tibia and fibula in his right leg.

Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported that Sherrod underwent emergency surgery in Kansas City, where he is expected to remain until later in the week.

Sherrod, the Packers’ first-round draft pick, has replaced Bryan Bulaga after he was lost to a knee injury in the third quarter. It means the Packers are going to be short-handed on the offensive line this week against the Bears, and Green Bay is expected to make a roster move with Sherrod.
