Long time coming: Dolphins tackle ready to go

Jake Long is a difference-maker on the Miami Dolphins offensive line, and the good news on South Beach is that the left tackle is ready to make a difference again.

Long missed all of preseason, spending a portion of it on PUP, while recovering from shoulder and knee injuries that dated back to last year.

Now, according to the Miami Herald, the first overall pick is the 2008 draft is back healthy and ready to go as the Dolphins open the season against the New England Patriots on Monday night.
Dolphins coach Tony Sparano doesn't believe Long will miss a beat, despite being absent for all of preseason.

“I mean, the guy has played about 5,000 plays in three years,” Sparano said. “I’m pretty confident I know what’s going to happen, and I’m pretty confident that I know what it’s going to take him to get ready to play.”
