Louisiana governor wishes Payton wouldn't move his family

Tom Benson gave his approval for Sean Payton to move his family to a distant suburb of New Orleans – the Dallas, Texas area.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal doesn’t think it’s such a good idea. But, then again, Jindal isn’t running the New Orleans Saints. And Jindal wishes the Paytons would remain rooted in New Orleans, according to Danny Monteverde of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Jindal will “take (Payton) and the Saints organization on their word" that the move isn’t a precursor to the Super Bowl XLIV coach bolting the franchise.

Jindal called Payton a “great leader” and lauded him for his work on and off the field. Per the report, he expects Payton to remain active in the community.

Much has been made about Payton’s decision to relocate his family. If there was a truly compelling reason, maybe it wouldn’t have created such a distraction. Now, no matter what Payton does with the Saints, in the back of everyone’s minds they’ll wonder what his future with the club is.
