L.T. will not have his mug shot on sex offender Web site
You can find the mug shot of Lawrence Taylor all over the Internet.
You just won’t be able to find it on New York’s sex offender registry list.
Although the Hall of Fame linebacker for the New York Giants has been required to register as a sex offender for his tryst with a 16-year-old hooker last year, he will not have his mug shot online. The Associated Press reports that Rockland County (N.Y.) Judge William Kelly ruled Taylor will be a Level 1 sex offender, which means he will not have his mug shot on the Web site. Prosecutors pushed for make L.T. a Level 2 offender. Kelly said Taylor’s crime has already been well-publicized.
“The difference between Level 1 and 2 is almost minuscule because of the notification that has already gone out to the world," Kelly said. “(Taylor) would be awfully foolish to go out and do this again."
Taylor avoided jail time at his sentencing and was given six years probation.
We’re not sure why there should be classes of distinction for sex offenders, particularly those involving minors.
