Lynell Hamilton waived/injured by Saints

The New Orleans Saints have waived/injured running back Lynell Hamilton.

The second-year performer tore the ACL in his right knee at New England on Wednesday and was lost for the season. He will revert back to the club’s injured reserve list provided he clears waivers. He had to be subjected to the waiver process in order for the Saints to get another spot on their 80-man roster.

Filling that spot will be linebacker Harry Coleman, an LSU product. Coleman spent time with the club during the offseason program but was released before the Saints opened training camp. The Saints remain in the market for a backup to Pierre Thomas. As it stands right now, P.J. Hill could be the leader for the job. Don't be surprised if they sign a player off the street or comb through the discard pile in early September for another option.
