Magic Johnson eyeing stake in Raiders?

Magic Johnson, now 20 years removed from his retirement after testing positive for HIV, is looking for a sports team to purchase.

Johnson, who sold his 5 percent stake in his beloved Los Angeles Lakers more than a year ago, has been looking for a landing spot in professional sports ownership and is not necessarily married to it being another NBA franchise.

According to NBA.com, which has plenty of time on its hands now because of the lockout, Johnson and late Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis became friends and Davis sent Johnson hand-written notes telling him of his appreciation for what Magic had done in the world of sports.

Johnson is apparently a big fan of the NFL and might prefer the Raiders or another NFL team over a pro basketball franchise in terms of ownership. Johnson is also said to be monitoring the upcoming sale of Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers by Frank McCourt.
