Manning will wear No.18 in Denver
Peyton Manning will wear No. 18 for the Denver Broncos, the same number he made famous as a member of the Indianapolis Colts, says the Denver Post's Mike Klis on Twitter.
The number is retired in Denver in honor of Frank Tripucka, the father of former Notre Dame basketball star and NBA player Kelly Tripucka. Frank Tripucka starred for the Broncos in the early days of the old American Football League, and has given his blessing for Manning to don the number retired in his honor.
Manning has worn 18 throughout his NFL career, apparently because it was his father Archie's number in college at Ole Miss. Peyton Manning had worn 16 in college at the University of Tennessee, and there was speculation that he would have taken that number again had he chosen the Titans. Receiver Kenny Britt has 18 there.
