Manningham won't be ready for start of season

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham will begin the season on the physically unable to perform list.

He's still not fully recovered from a knee injury suffered last season, a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Manningham finished last season with 42 receptions.

The former New York Giants wide receiver is eligible to return to practice after the sixth week of the regular season with the 49ers.
