Manny Lawson shows up for 49ers, wants new deal

Speculation was that Manny Lawson would take a pass on the mandatory minicamp for the San Francisco 49ers this week, but the veteran linebacker did the right thing and showed up.

Now, he’d like to be paid.

Lawson is on the books for $630,000 this season, a bargain as he enters the final year of the five-year rookie contract he received. Teammate Patrick Willis hit it big and now Lawson would like his piece of the pie.

“You know everyone wants a new contract,” Lawson said, according to Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News. “I want to be here. I want to be a San Francisco 49er. I would like a new contract, yes.”
