Marcell Dareus to miss OTAs
Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcell Dareus will not be present for the remainder of OTAs, Bills coach Doug Marrone told reporters on Tuesday.
Though Dareus won't practice during the voluntary workouts, he will be present for mandatory minicamp later this summer.
"I just want to make sure that I’m clear that everyone understands that I believe in Marcell and I will do everything I can to make sure that we can get him on the right track," Marrone said. "Really that’s the situation. There are a lot of things going on, a lot of personal talk and that’s really all I’m going to comment on. I understand you’ll ask some questions afterwards, but I’m going to keep repeating the situation, the conversations we had are between us and we’re working this thing.
"I’m disappointed in all of our players anytime anyone of us, including myself, when we make poor decisions. It’s a reflection of the team, which is a reflection of me and it’s a reflection on this organization. You guys can go ahead and ask, but I would rather move on and talk about other things with the team and where we’re going."
Dareus was charged with three misdemeanor and four vehicle-related charges, stemming from allegedly racing a car in upstate New York.
This follows Dareus' arrest earlier this offseason in Alabama, where he faces felony drug charges.
Dareus had 7.5 sacks in 2013 and has 18.5 over three NFL seasons.
