Marshawn Lynch avoids $50,000 fine, for now

Seattle Seahawks star running back Marshawn Lynch has avoided paying a $50,000 fine, at least for now.

Initially fined $50,000 for not talking with reporters this season, Lynch incorrectly stated that he won an appeal with the league.

In fact, Lynch is in jeopardy of having to pay the original $50,000 fine and another $50,000 fine if he doesn't cooperate with the media going forward.

Seahawks fans had raised more than $17,000 to help pay the fine.

Now, they don't have to.

"To all the 12s, I appreciate your support," Lynch wrote on Facebook. "Wanted you to now I appealed the fine and won, but I'm still going to match all donations made. Thanks to Loren Summers for starting the site (at www.gofundme.com). We've talked, and after the deadline, even if $50K isn't met and all contributions are given back, I'll donate the matched total anyway."
