Matthew Stafford looks good at Georgia pro day

As was announced earlier in the week, Matthew Stafford gave a public progress report on is recovery from shoulder surgery in January.

The former Georgia quarterback performed at the Bulldogs spring game this afternoon, taking part in a competition with some other former quarterbacks from the program.

According to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network, Stafford was the winner. He hit a trash can from 35 yards and threw balls through tires from a distance of 20 yards. He also made a perfect strike from a distance of 45 yards.

Stafford missed nearly all of last season with multiple separations of his right shoulder. The hope is that after the surgery his shoulder will now be stronger. Stafford plans to hook up with teammate Calvin Johnson for throwing before long. The Lions’s season obviously hinges on the health of the former No. 1 overall pick.
