Matthew Stafford questionable, but probably 2 weeks away
Matthew Stafford threw in practice on Friday and will bring his jersey and equipment with him today when the Detroit Lions travel to the Meadowlands to face the New York Giants.
But Tom “Killer” Kowalski of MLive.com reports that Stafford is not expected to return to action until the Lions come off their bye, which is next week. The Lions have listed Stafford as questionable. He has been sidelined since he was hit by Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers in the season opener at Soldier Field.
"We'll see Sunday. If he's able to get back, it'll show that he's right on track and healthy enough to be in a game," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves."
But Kowalski reports that Stafford likely will not play until the Lions host the Redskins on Oct. 31.
