McCoy has chance to play vs. Steelers

Colt McCoy, who has been out since Dec. 8 with a concussion that created plenty of controversy, has a chance to receive medical clearance to practice Wednesday.

That means he could be under center against the very player and team that knocked him out of action in the first place in James Harrison and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Browns coach Pat Shurmur was non-committal on McCoy starting even if he gets clearance, but told the Cleveland Plain Dealer there is that possibility.

"I can't cross that bridge yet," said Shurmur. "We'll know more Wednesday when we start practicing for the Steelers and then we'll talk about it then. And I'm not trying to be vague. That's the case."

The helmet-to-helmet hit McCoy suffered at the hands of Harrison created all sorts of issues, landing Harrison a one-game suspension for the hit and calling the Browns' medical and coaching staff into question for sending McCoy back into the game without diagnosing him with a concussion.

McCoy was finally diagnosed with the concussion the following day, after he had said he did not remember portions of the game and had to have TV camera lights turned off in order to conduct his post-game press conference.
