McCoy out, Watson to IR for Browns with concussions
A concussion has officially ended the season of Cleveland Browns tight end Ben Watson, as the team placed him on injured reserve on Friday.
Watson suffered three concussions this season.
To fill the roster spot, the Browns promoted fullback Eddie Williams from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
Browns coach Pat Shurmur also announced that starting quarterback Colt McCoy, who has been out all week with a concussion, won't make the trip to Arizona where the Browns face the Cardinals on Sunday. that means Seneca Wallace will start against Arizona. McCoy suffered the concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit last week by Pittsburgh's James Harrison, a play for which Harrison will serve a one-game suspension this week.
There has been speculation that McCoy could miss the remainder of the the Browns season with the concussion problem and be placed on injured reserve, though Shurmur said that had not been discussed.
Also, fullback Owen Marecic will not make the trip west either due to a concussion.
