Megatron says he is motivated by Richard Sherman's talk

The talk leading into the meeting Sunday between the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks is certainly hyping the matchup.

If we’re lucky, the game will live up to it.

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, who has been chatty with several opponents in recent weeks, is calling himself Optimus Prime as he prepares to meet Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson, who is known as Megatron.

The difference? Johnson didn’t name himself Megatron. Sherman is choosing to call himself Optimus Prime, the foil to Megatron, as Justin Rogers of reports.

Intrigued yet?

“A self-given nickname?" Johnson said “That's who he wants to be. That's cool.”

Johnson went on to say he will use it as motivation for this week and we’re not sure it’s wise to get a player like Johnson fired up.

Not surprisingly, Lions center Dom Raiola is now involved in the chatter too.

“(Sherman) took a shot at (Tom) Brady, one of the best quarterbacks to ever play, he's taking shots at coaches, whatever, that's disrespectful to this game,” Raiola said, per Rogers. “Maybe he doesn't have a lot of respect. Who knows?”

We’ll see come Sunday.
