Mendenhall out with torn ACL
Rashard Mendenhall's season is over just as the Pittsburgh Steelers enter the playoffs.
Mendendall tore the ACL in his right knee, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, in Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns, leaving him out for this season and iffy for the start of next season with the injury coming so late in the season.
Mendenhall isn't the only Steeler suffering from injuries with Sunday's playoff game in Denver looming. Pittsburgh will also be without cornerbacks Keenan Lewis (hamstring) and Cortez Allen (shoulder) and will also be without starting safety Ryan Clark, who because of a sickle cell trait, has trouble in high altitudes. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin decided on Tuesday to hold Clark out of the game.
The Steelers did sign cornerback Anthony Madison to the 53-man roster and put Mendenhall on IR to create an opening.
