Michael Crabtree could make preseason debut Friday

Michael Crabtree has missed the vast majority of training camp for the San Francisco 49ers with a pulled calf muscle he suffered in the first practice.

But the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver expects to play in a preseason game for the first time in his career Friday. First time? Yep. Crabtree has the ridiculous contract dispute as a rookie in 2009 that carried into the season. In 2010, he was working his way back from a neck injury and didn’t play in preseason. Last summer, it was his return from a foot injury that kept him out of preseason.

Crabtree is returning in the nick of time but Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports the receiver didn’t understand all the focus on his injury history that includes two surgeries on his right foot.

How short was (training camp) cut this year?” Crabtree said. “A week? I'm sure a lot of guys go through that, right? Does everybody go every day of camp? I'm here, man. I'm not missing a beat.

“Frustrated? I'm just talking, man. I don't like how you use those words, frustrated. Nobody's frustrated. It's football.

"You see someone injured every day – that's news, you know what I'm saying? It's part of football. It's a physical game, and I just know how to deal with it. I've been here, you know? I know how to deal with it. I'm sure you guys know that when they say, hut, I'm going full speed. I'm not worried about that."

With any luck, Crabtree will be able to continue going full speed for some time now without any more speed bumps.
