Michael Crabtree's achy foot remains concern for 49ers
Michael Crabtree couldn’t finish Sunday’s season opener because of discomfort in his surgically repaired foot and he wasn’t able to do a whole lot in practice on Wednesday.
It’s an ongoing concern for the San Francisco 49ers as Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reports Crabtree ran one route, maybe at half speed, during the individual portion of practice. He spent a good deal of time huddled up with the team’s trainer.
Coach Jim Harbaugh says it’s a possibility Kyle Williams, who performed well in preseason, will be activated and used in Crabtree’s place Sunday. Ted Ginn could also get a little more work on offense. This has to be troublesome for the Niners as Crabtree missed the entire preseason and training camp. With any luck, maybe he’s just working his way through some natural pain as part of the process.
