Michael Strahan says Rex Ryan becoming joke to his players
As the war of words rages on in New York as we approach the city’s battle for football supremacy on Saturday, one former New York Giants believes New York Jets coach Rex Ryan is on the verge of becoming a joke.
Yes, the sack master turned Fox analyst said it has gotten to the point where Ryan could become a joke for his own players, not just a punch line for other players around the league.
“It’s a fine line whenever you have to talk that much,” Strahan told the New York Daily. “Once it kind of seems like a joke, it becomes a joke to your own players.”
Strahan should know first-hand about talking. He did plenty of it during his decorated career. But that seems to be all the Jets are doing this season as they haven’t backed up the hype with play on the field.
“If I have to walk into a room and tell you how bad I am, I’m probably not that bad,” Strahan said. “If I’m comfortable in my own skin, I shouldn’t have to convince people of my words. That’s the whole thing with Rex I look at. At some point, you just look and go ‘enough is enough.’”
Strahan has a point. We’re willing to bet if the Jets prevail on Saturday, he and everyone else will be hearing a lot more from Ryan.
