Michael Vick closing in on a big sponsorship deal
Not long after renewing his partnership with Nike, Michael Vick has another major sponsorship deal in the works.
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback is poised to sign a three-year endorsement contract with MusclePharm, a Denver-based supplement company. According to NFL.com, the deal is worth $1.55 million. It will all help Vick, who is faced with the task of re-paying creditors. Things are looking up for him, though, as he’s been franchise tagged by the Eagles and that means a big pay day this season of at least $16 million or a multi-year contract that would be worth more in guaranteed money.
It’s a remarkable story how Vick has gone from a nearly two-year stint in federal prison to returning as one of the top quarterbacks in the game. Clearly, now two years after he was released, some of the stigma attached to him and the crimes he committed has gone away.
Of course, now he has to focus on following up on his breakout 2010 season.
