Mike Brown declares he likes Carson Palmer, a 'good person'

Maybe Carson Palmer is ready to ride off into the sunset.

If he’s not, he better be prepared to not play football this season.

Because if Palmer isn’t going to strap it on with the Cincinnati Bengals this season – and he’s been consistently adamant about that – he’s not going anywhere else. Team owner Mike Brown was emphatic on the issue in a press conference today at Paul Brown Stadium.

I honesty like Carson Palmer. He was a splendid player for us. He is a good person. I wish him well and he has retired. That is his choice,” Brown said, according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

“I’m not expecting him to be back. Carson signed a contract, he made a commitment,” Brown continued. “He gave us his word. We relied on his word and his commitment. We expected him to perform here. If he is going to walk away from his commitment we aren’t going to reward him for doing it.”

Yes, that means exactly what you think. He will not be traded. Our guy Matt Bowen discusses how this sends a clear and concise message to the rest of the locker room.
