Mike Shanahan professes his love for Donovan McNabb

The coachspeak even comes out when they’re talking to the youngest football fans out there.

Mike Shanahan was appearing at a football camp sponsored by Shawn Springs in Loudon County, Va., on Friday. He gave the kids a little speech and took some questions, one from a 7-year-old boy who wanted to know if Donovan McNabb will be back with the Washington Redskins this season.

Reasonable question.

“Until I get a chance to talk to Donovan and I go through the scenario with him, I really can’t share it with the public,” Shanahan replied, according to CSN Washington.

“Those are the decisions that are always tough for a coach, because you have to make decisions that you feel are in the best interest of the team.

"I love Donovan McNabb. … He’s one of the best guys you’ll ever be around. You cannot find a better person in the world. The thing that you do when you put a football team together is you sit down and make some tough decisions, and I will sit down with him once we are able to talk.”

He loves Donovan McNabb? That might come as quite a surprise to McNabb. Then again, love can be expressed in all sorts of different ways. Shanahan will love even more using a different quarterback in 2011.
