Mikel Leshoure back at practice for Lions

The Detroit Lions still don’t have a timetable for the return of Jahvid Best.

But they finally got another back on the practice field today. Mikel Leshoure has his helmet and is practicing for the first time since the start of training camp when he suffered a hamstring injury, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Leshoure has been sidelined nearly three weeks and that is a substantial setback for a player who missed his entire rookie season. The important thing is he is fully healthy and will not suffer a recurring issue with the hamstring.

Detroit ran the ball well in its preseason opener. Keiland Williams and Joique Bell combined for 160 yards on 25 carries. The Lions totaled 198 yards on 33 rushes. Of course, it was only the first exhibition game.
