Mornhinweg: Michael Vick can be better than Steve Young
Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Daily News puts together a compelling read today about Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and how successful the club has been since he arrived.
This past season, the offense shined with Michael Vick and the point is made he had a 100.2 passer rating, nearly 20 points higher than his previous career best.
“Here was a man who hasn't played for a couple of years. However, if he did it the right way, I thought he could be a Steve Young-type player," Mornhinweg said.
“Mike's got a long way to go, but, you know what? I think he can be better than Steve.”
That is high praise for Vick, who is in position to be the Eagles quarterback for years to come. How long Mornhinweg will be there remains to be seen. Hayes points out he could be destined to become a head coach again soon. For now, he’s got Vick to work with to see how good he can be.
