Morris Claiborne ready to live up to expectations

Cornerback Morris Claiborne is ready to live up to the hype a sixth-overall selection receives.

With the Cowboys trading up to get him with that pick in the 2012 draft, Claiborne has dealt with hamstring and shoulder injuries and ultimately lost his starting spot during the 2013 season. He's hoping that changes in 2014, though he admitted in an interview with The Dallas Morning News that he's tired of being asked about living up to expectations so early in his career.

"From that aspect, [I] get tired of getting asked, '[the Cowboys] moved down to get you and you're this, you're a bust, you're that. I get tired of that question," Claiborne said. "How do you feel about the Cowboys moving up to get you and you didn't do this? And what are you going to do? That type of stuff."

In two seasons, Claiborne has missed six games and has only tallied two interceptions. After starting all 15 games he appeared in as a rookie, Claiborne started just seven of the 10 he saw action in a year ago.

He said he's just about injury-free and looking forward to working out this offseason in order to get where he needs to be.

“I feel like my mind is getting stronger as well as my body," Claiborne said. "Just rehabbing every day and trying to get stronger. I’ll be ready for when we start up our workouts and on to OTAs and minicamp.”
