Munchak to Penn State: No thanks
Mike Munchak admitted he was flattered that fans and administrators at his alma mater, Penn State, brought up his name in connection with the job there.
But Munchak reiterated for the third time that he will not be following Joe Paterno as the Nittany Lions next coach and that he is happy where he is as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans.
“You all know Penn State means a lot to me. I obviously went to school there and I'm real concerned for what they've gone through the last couple of months. I'm flattered that people think I'd be a great fit for the coach there,” Munchak said via TitanInsider.com. “They have not contacted me in any way or talked to me about the possibility of working there. I have not reached out to them. I have a job that I enjoy quite a bit.”
Twice before, Munchak has had to shoot down speculation that he was headed to Happy Valley, including the day Paterno was fired on Nov. 9. But after reports out of Pennsylvania surfaced that Munchak was atop Penn State's wish list with one report even saying it was a done deal that would be announced within a few days. Oops!
