Ndamukong Suh tries to distance himself from sister's tweet

Ndamukong Suh’s sister, Ngum, who helps manage her brother’s business affairs off the field created a stir with Lions fans on Saturday when she sent out a tweet that some interpreted as a sign the defensive tackle is looking forward to his stay in Motown ending.

Ngum Suh tweeted “Thank u Jesus! Only 2.5 more years! #Freedom.” That timetable, of course, matches the length remaining in Suh’s contract because the final year – 2015 – is voidable.

What my sister tweets is what she tweets,” Suh said today, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “It has nothing to do with me. That’s her personal account. That’s why her name’s on it. I have my personal account that says verified, it says my name on it.”

Suh said he would like to remain with the Lions in the future but no one can predict that far out.

“This city is great to me, it continues to be great to me,” he said. “The people are great people and I love playing here, that’s why I wear the jersey.”

Since a dominant rookie season, Suh’s performance on the field has slipped and he’s been involved in numerous off-field incidents, including a traffic issue last week. He’s also involved in a landlord-tenant squabble involving Ngum. We’ll see if his performance on the field improves before his contract ends.
