NFL interceptions leader could miss interception machine
After DeAngelo Hall intercepted Jay Cutler four times in one half last month, all cornerbacks waiting to face the Chicago Bears this season took notice.
So it’s got to be really bothering Asante Samuel, the veteran for the Philadelphia Eagles, that he has not been able to practice yet this week. It’s getting to the point where you have to question whether he will be able to play on Sunday at Soldier Field in a meeting of 7-3 NFC teams.
Samuel is dealing with a sprained MCL and while he doesn’t have to practice this week to play, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, it sure would help. The team has called him “day-to-day” each day this week.
“I'm working every day to get better, so we'll see how it goes," Samuel said, per the report.
If Samuel, who leads the NFL in interceptions, cannot play, Joselio Hanson will start in his place. In nickel situations, Hanson would play inside and Trevard Lindley would man the left cornerback spot.
