NFL looking into Scott finger incident

Bart Scott's middle finger might have the NFL putting its thumb down on him.

The New York Daily News said the NFL is looking into reports and allegations that the New York Jets linebacker flipped his middle finger at a photographer on Monday, while players were cleaning out their lockers at the end of the season. Jets coach Rex Ryan was fined $50,000 for flipping the bird at a heckler during an event at Super Bowl week last year.

The paper also reported that the league is investigating receiver Santonio Holmes' skipping of media sessions, both leading up to last week's game at Miami, and in the aftermath of that game. Holmes was benched in the waning moments of the loss to the Dolphins with the Jets' slim playoff hopes hanging in the balance.

The incidents involving Scott and Holmes were part of a Jets meltdown as a disappionting season ended 8-8 and out of the postseason.
