NFL unanimously approves Stan Kroenke's bid to buy Rams
No longer is Stan Kroenke a minority owner of the St. Louis Rams.
Kroenke’s bid to purchase full control of the organization from the family of late owner Georgia Frontiere was unanimously approved at the NFL meeting in Atlanta this morning, according to Steve Wyche of NFL.com.
That means Kroenke fully satisfied the league with his efforts to become in compliance with cross-ownership rules. It looked like that would be a sticking point because the Missouri businessman also owns the NBA’s Denver Nuggets and the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche. It’s believed he will sell those franchises to family members.
Kroenke, who owned 40 percent of the team, exercised his right to match an offer made to buy the team by Illinois businessman Shahid Khan. The NFL’s finance committee gave Kroenke full backing on Tuesday.
