*Michael Vick got a reprieve as the Eagle’s starting quarterback, but the feeling in the locker room is it’s only temporary. Vick does not appear to have the full trust of Eagles’ coaches, and barring a huge turnaround, some expect that he will be let go in the offseason. Teams looking for a short term solution at quarterback could have an interesting option in Vick.

*The buzz on the street is if Andy Reid doesn’t survive in Philly, one potential replacement could be Jon Gruden. Of course Gruden worked for the Eagles as offensive coordinator before Reid arrived, and bringing him back would be a popular move. However, the rumors about Chargers management sniffing around about Gruden are off base, according to those in the know. Chargers owner Dean Spanos and general manager A.J. Smith have too much respect for Norv Turner to start looking for his replacement while he still is coaching for his job. Undermining the head coach is not Spanos’ style.

*The Cardinals want to get first round pick Michael Floyd more involved in the offense and believe he is ready to take the next step. They targeted him 11 times against the 49ers. The next step might be Floyd passing Early Doucet on the depth chart. There were some rumblings about Doucet being the subject of trade talk before the deadline, and if he were traded that would have helped clear the path for Floyd.

*One former general manager believes Scott Pioli could survive in Kansas City because the talent base there is pretty good. Among his draft picks who have been contributors are linebacker Justin Houston, safety Eric Berry, return man Javier Arenas, tight end Tony Moeaki, safety Kendrick Lewis, kicker Ryan Succop and guards Jeff Allen and Jon Asomoah. But if Clark Hunt wants to make a case against Pioli, he can blame him for his choice of head coaches.

*The Chiefs drafted Glenn Dorsey with the fifth overall pick in 2008 to be a 4-3 interior pass rusher, and it appeared his future was pretty bright there. But when Pioli and Todd Haley took over one year later and switched to a three man front, Dorsey became a defensive end. His contract is up after this season, and teams that use 4-3s already are eyeballing him as a potential three-technique. Don’t be surprised if Dorsey ends up back in a four man front in 2013.
