NFP Power Rankings
Every week, the National Football Post brings you our Power Rankings: a breakdown of how we stack up the league.
Week 4 (previous rankings in parenthesis)
1. (1) Green Bay Packers (3-0): The Champs went into Chicago and shut down the Bears in a game that wasn’t as close as the 27-17 score.
ICONBrees and the Saints are back up near the top of our Power Rankings.
2. (4) New Orleans Saints (2-1): Drew Brees and the Saints scored 23 fourth quarter points to come back and beat the Texans at home.
3. (6) Baltimore Ravens (2-1): WR Torrey Smith can run and he showed the entire NFL that he is a vertical threat.
4. (2) New England Patriots (2-1): We aren't going to bury the Patriots after a road loss, but there are some concerns on the defensive side of the ball.
5. (3) New York Jets (2-1): The Jets couldn’t win up front vs. the Raiders and Rex can't be happy.
6. (8) Houston Texans (2-1): The Texans defense made some plays vs. Brees, but that is a game they have to close out for the win.
7. (12) Detroit Lions (3-0): We still have some concerns about the Lions run game, but there is no denying their weapons down the field—or their 3-0 start.
8. (16) Buffalo Bills (3-0): To beat the Pats, you have to make big plays—and that’s what we saw from the Fitzpatrick and the Bills’ secondary.
9. (9) San Diego Chargers (2-1): Hard to figure out the Chargers right now. Talent at the skill positions, but are they a team that is set up to stay on top?
10. (7) Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1): The Steelers played a very sloppy brand of football in the Sunday night win over the 0-3 Colts.
11. (15) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1): Don’t forget about the Bucs in the NFC South. They can run the ball and we like Josh Freeman when the offense needs to make a play.
ICONMcFadden and the Raiders beat up the Jets to move to 2-1.
12. (18) Oakland Raiders (2-1): This might be the most physical team in the NFL and they are nasty up front.
13. (13) Dallas Cowboys (2-1): Romo deserves some credit for playing banged up and finding a way to survive the multiple mistakes from the Dallas offense last night in the win.
14. (17) New York Giants (2-1): Eli Manning’s four TD passes should quiet some critics for at least a week in New York.
15. (10) Chicago Bears (1-2): The Bears were outplayed by the Pack at home and Mike Martz needs to make some corrections in a hurry.
16. (11) Atlanta Falcons (1-2): The Falcons won’t start winning games until Michael Turner becomes the focus of the game plan.
17. (5) Philadelphia Eagles (1-2): A far drop for the Eagles, but when the QB can’t stay on the field and the defense is exposed, it is time to question the hype in Philly.
18. (14) Washington Redskins (2-1): The Cowboys showed us that pressure is still the best bet to shake up Rex Grossman.
19. (19) Tennessee Titans (2-1): Quietly, the Titans are off to a good start—and that’s without any real production from Chris Johnson.
20. (23) San Francisco 49ers (2-1): With a 2-1 start, are the Niners the team to beat in the NFC West?
21. (24) Carolina Panthers (1-2): Cam Newton gets his first win as a pro and faces a good test this week vs. the Bears Cover 2 defense.
22. (22) Minnesota Vikings (0-3): Another blown opportunity for the Vikes after giving up a 20-0 halftime lead at home vs. the Lions.
23. (27) Cleveland Browns (2-1): Can the Browns hang around with the Ravens and Steelers in the AFC North? That’s up to Colt McCoy.
ICONWhat's going on with Sparano and the Dolphins?
24. (20) Miami Dolphins (0-3): Tony Sparano should hear talk about his job, because there is talent in Miami.
25. (28) Denver Broncos (1-2): The offense looked stagnant in the loss at Tennessee—and it starts with Kyle Orton.
26. (29) Cincinnati Bengals (1-2): With the possibility of losing Cedric Benson for three games, more pressure will fall on rookie Andy Dalton in Cincy.
27. (26) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2): If you are going to start rookie Blaine Gabbert, then expect some bumps along the way.
28. (32) Seattle Seahawks (1-2): Pete Carroll gets the comeback win over the Cards, but can this team consistently win out west?
29. (21) Arizona Cardinals (1-2): Not the start you would expect after giving up so much for QB Kevin Kolb.
30. (30) Indianapolis Colts (0-3): The Colts played big on defense vs. Roethlisbeger and the Steelers, but the QB situation isn’t going to cut it.
31. (24) St. Louis Rams (0-3): We expected to see more production from McDaniels’ and Sam Bradford in the new offensive system.
32. (31) Kansas City Chiefs (0-3): The Chiefs have too many holes to be considered a player in the AFC West.
