Nick Fairley running with second-team defense in Detroit
The Detroit Lions didn't pick up defensive tackle Nick Fairley's fifth-year option this offseason.
And now he's not running with the starters. He's on the second-team defense.
He's the backup to C.J. Mosley.
“If you’re asking me whether or not Fairley is going to be a starter, he’s not starting right now,” Lions coach Jim Caldwell said. “He’s second team. It’s a long week. We’ve got a lot of work to do in between and typically like most games, we’ll take a look at where we are and make an assessment on that toward the end of the week.”
