No fine for Aqib Talib for flap with official

Aqib Talib and Boris Cheek both should be feeling a little lucky today.

That’s because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback and the NFL official will not be reprimanded for insulting one another as they left the field Sunday in Baltimore following the Ravens’ 17-10 victory over the Bucs.

Talib had to be restrained by teammates after he hurled insults at Cheek and the official responded with one of his own. Both men were out of line, but there will be no fines handed down, according to Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune.

“Both individuals have been reminded that any post-game conversations between players and game officials should be more positive in nature," NFC Information Manager Randall Liu told Kaufman.

Talib and Cheek, a field judge on Carl Cheffers’ crew, were volleying insults in the tunnel leaving the stadium. It wouldn’t surprise us one bit if the NFL was more upset that Cheek chose to respond than anything else. Officials know not to engage players in such situations.
