No salsa dance for Carlos Rogers

A salsa showdown is not likely to happen on Sunday.

But it looked like one was brewing as the New York Giants prepare to travel to San Francisco for a meeting with the 49ers and a rematch of the NFC Championship Game.

49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers upset Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz during a regular-season meeting between the teams last year when he intercepted a pass and then broke into an imitation of Cruz’s salsa dance near the Giants sideline.

Cruz addressed it over the summer in his book “Out of the Blue,” and called it “cheap” and a “sign of disrespect,” according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Rogers said on Tuesday he just might do it again if he can get his hands on a ball in this game and Cruz responded angrily the following day.

"I obviously won't be OK with that," Cruz said, according to Branch. "But it is what it is - I'm not going to try to retaliate or go crazy. That's not me. But obviously it won't sit well with me as I've stated before."

Cruz went on to detail how he created the celebratory dance as an honor to his late grandmother. He explained the depth of his relationship with his grandmother. Now, Rogers isn’t planning to do his own salsa dance if he can get an interception. Surely, they will have a good competition on the field.
