No surprise Packers dominating NFC Pro Bowl fan voting
Everybody loves a winner. Especially Pro Bowl voters.
That’s certainly the case again this season as the undefeated Green Bay Packers – the reigning Super Bowl champions – dominate the updated fan balloting results released by the league.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers leads all NFL players in voting, and the Packers have 21 players ranked in the top five at their position. Green Bay has the top vote-getter at 10 positions and the Packers have the top two at offensive tackle and guard. They’ve actually got a clean sweep right now on the offensive line with Scott Wells pacing voting at center.
Fan voting counts one-third in the selection process. Players have one-third of the vote and coaches have one-third also. Fan voting continues through Dec. 19. Players and coaches will cast their votes on December 21-22 and the all-star teams will be announced Dec. 27. The Pro Bowl will be played Jan. 29, 2012, in Honolulu.
Of course, if the Packers make a return trip to the Super Bowl, none of their players will be able to appear in the all-star game.
