Notre Dame safety Elijah Shumate visits Broncos

Notre Dame safety Elijah Shumate visited the Denver Broncos. Shumate is a big hittter at 6-foot, 216 pounds. The 6-foot, 216-pounder runs the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds, bench presses 225 pounds 18 times with a 33-inch vertical leap, a 4.26 short shuttle and a 7.03 three-cone drill. Shumate started all but one game last season and had 70 tackles, 6 1/2 for losses with one interception. He had 13 tackles against USC as a junior. Shumate is a former blue-chip recruit. Shumate is an outstanding tackler and should excel on special teams. Follow me on Twitter: @AaronWilson_NFL Aaron Wilson covers the Texans for The Houston Chronicle.
