Ochocinco reworks deal to stay with Patriots

The New England Patriots and wide receiver Chad Ochocinco have redone the the player's contract, lowering his base salary from $3 million to $1 million, according to ESPN.com.

That move helps to assure that the 34-year-old Ochocinco will be in camp with the Patriots. At the $3 million base, he was in danger of being released, given the disappointing 2011 season he endured. Ochocinco caught just 15 passes for the Patriots in his first year in New England after coming over from the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Patriots receiving corps has a veteran look with Ochocinco, Deion Branch and Wes Welker being joined by free agent pickups Anthony Gonzalez, Donte Stallworth and Brandon Lloyd.
